INOVAR, INC.

May 26, 2004

This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

When I think of Cache Valley, I almost always think of cheese — until now. Inovar, Inc., a high-tech electronic company in the heart of Cache Valley, is cashing in on Logan's resources and is recognized as one of the 100 fastest growing companies in Utah.

When Inovar was operating six years ago with 15 employees in an old converted garage, no one would have guessed it was on its way to becoming a leader in its industry. Today, with 140 employees and a new 25,000-square-foot facility, Inovar has managed to keep its small-town company feel, while still attracting top names in the electronic industry. Inovar President Blake Kirby tells me he believes in the old proverb, "If you build it, they will come." And now the company has 35 clients, each specializing in different products for the medical, industrial, computer, wireless or consumer markets.

Inovar doesn't manufacture its own products, but specializes in providing electronic manufacturing services to companies looking to outsource. This way, other companies can hire Inovar to build the electronic brain of their products. For example, Inovar is responsible for the blenders used in many juice and coffee bars and is the genius behind many medical computers.

Inovar relies on Utah State University's top-notch engineering and business graduates to join its staff. In fact, when Inovar considered relocating to Salt Lake City, its relationship with the university was weighed and deemed important enough to stay in Cache Valley.

Although far from Silicon Valley, Calif., this once small, but innovative, electronic company has taken its own chunk of the industry. Restructuring the company five years ago and moving into a new facility has attracted nationwide clients, including Merit Medical, Qualcomm, Edge Products and Maxstream. Inovar has been innovative in finding its niche and, like so many good ideas, it all started in an old converted garage.
